Tom Cruse, being the passionate recruiter he is for Scientology, is at it again. It appears his latest recruit might be Will Smith. Here is the article from FoxNews…
Hollywood power couple Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith have won critical acclaim for pumping nearly $1 million of their own money into a new private school that will offer organic meals, laptops for every student and an environment of learning based on “equity” and “respect” to create “citizens of the world.”
Here’s what the parents of the school’s pupils aren’t being told:
The New Village Academy plans to use some teaching methods developed within the Church of Scientology and has hired a team of Scientologists to put them into action.
Pinkett-Smith, who currently home-schools the couple’s two children, has long been talking about opening up a school where Jaden, 9, and Willow, 7, can continue to receive an education in line with their beliefs, friends told FOXNews.com.
In a day and age where many are promoting easy believism and the health and wealth gospel, it was refreshing to come across this paragraph while reading the book, What Is A Healthy Church?, by Mark Dever. If I may add, an all-around great read. Here is the excerpt, taken from page 76.
The gospel is not the news that we’re okay. It’s not the the news that God is love. It’s not the news that Jesus wants to be our friend. It’s not the news that he has a wonderful plan or purpose for our life. As I discussed at greater length in chapter 1, the gospel is the good news that Jesus Christ died on the cross as a sacrificial substitute for sinners and rose again, making a way for us to be reconciled to God. It’s the news that the Judge will become the Father, if only we repent and believe.
Here are the four points I try to remember whenever sharing the gospel, whether in private or in public – (1) God, (2) Man, (3) Christ, and (4) Response. In other words:
Have I explained that God is our holy and sovereign creator?
Have I made it clear that we humans are a strange mixture, wonderfully made in God’s image yet horribly fallen, sinful, and separated from him?
Have I explained who Jesus is and what he has done – that he is the God-man who uniquely and exclusively stands in between God and man as a substitute and resurrected Lord.
And finally, even if I’ve shared all this, have I clearly stated that a person must respond to the gospel and must believe this message and so turn from his life of self-centeredness and sin?
How often do you hear these things when listening to the gospel being explained?
In case you haven’t heard yet, I.U. basketball is in bad shape, thanks Kelvin Sampson…. I sure hope Kelvin is enjoying is $750,000 buyout that he still left town with when his job was terminated by Indiana University officials. By the way Kelvin, would you mind giving some of that money back to I.U. to help find a replacement to help clean up the mess that you created? To make matters worst, yesterday, two players were dismissed from the team by interim coach Dan Dakich. So as of right now, if Eric Gordon departs for the NBA, which I believe he shouldn’t, (just look at his assist to turnover ratio) we have zero starters returning next year. I am embarrassed to be a Hoosier basketball fan right now. So to brighten my day and maybe yours, here is clip from my oldest son, Damon, who seems to possess a better vertical jump than his dad. Just maybe one day I.U. basketball will return to it’s glory days. Until then I’ll just keep shooting with my boys, it’s more fun…
For those who may be interested, on March 20th – 22nd, we took about twenty-three students to the Creation Museum located in Petersburg, Kentucky. I knew it would be good, but not this GOOD! Our teens were impressed with the state-of-the-art facilities and presentations, as was I. As we walked through this impressive building, the pages of the Bible just seemed to come to life. You can probably spend about six solid hours there, which would include your walk-through (at your own pace) as well as taking in the numerous presentations. I tip my hat to Ken Haam for all of his hard work and strategic planning. I am looking forward to one day taking my own kids there. If you have any questions or maybe you are considering taking a visit, feel free to leave me a comment, I would be more than happy to send you more information. What’s the Gospel? In forty words or less, how would you answer that question? While your thinking about it, here is how one pastor described it…
“The Gospel is the news that Jesus Christ, the Righteous One, died for our sins and rose again, eternally triumphant over all his enemies, so that there is now no condemnation for those who believe, but only everlasting joy.”
You agree with it? Is it missing any key elements? Without any search inquires via internet, can you guess who it is? I will reveal the answer in a couple of days.
Welcome to the wonderful world of WordPress. I terminated my blog at blogspot.com and have begun a new here. Looking forward to sharing with you. Please be patient while I make this transition. In the mean time, how is everybody’s NCAA brackets looking right now? I believe I am in fourth place right now in our youth group challenge. Believe it or not, Jenna Dickson, one of our junior high girls is leading the way right now. Go figure!!!
